7th Annual JDM Workshop
for Early-Career Researchers
Mannheim, July 2nd to 4th 2014
We are pleased and excited to announce the seventh workshop for early-career judgment and decision-making scientists (formerly also known as “JDM workshop for young researchers”), which will take place at the University of Mannheim from the second to the fourth of July. The workshop is organized almost entirely by PhD students and is meant to bring early-career researchers interested in decision sciences together to share research, present ideas, and network. This year, we are very happy to host the workshop in the thriving city of Mannheim. We warmly invite you to submit an abstract!
This year’s program will be comprised of oral presentations by participants as well as workshops held by experts in our field. We invite you to submit proposals for talks (15 min presentation + 15 min discussion), which should address current empirical research and/or theoretical or methodological topics in JDM. Because the JDM workshop is designed to provide a forum to discuss new research designs and get fruitful, supportive feedback from colleagues, we especially encourage the submission of new research ideas and proposals for future research. The workshop is primarily directed at Ph.D. students and post-docs as well as interested Master students.
Besides participants' presentations, we are thrilled to be able to announce the following workshops which address current substantial research topics as well as general advice for early-career scientists:
- Frameworks for Process Models in Decision Science — Jana Jarecki and Prof. Arndt Bröder
- Simple Decision Aids for Better Medicine — Dr. Mirjam Jenny
- Structured Academic Writing and Publication — Prof. Benjamin E. Hilbig
- Writing Successful Grant Proposals — Prof. Edgar Erdfelder
Registration and Costs ¶
Registration is currently open and will be until the sixth of June. Accepted participants have recieved further information via email, if you would like to attend without presenting, please contact us directly.
This year, we were fortunate to receive a grant from the local research group Contextualized Decision-Making. This will cover costs associated with inviting workshop presenters, along with light refreshments, so that we are confident that there will be a minimal (20 € max.) or no participation fee for participants. At the end of the workshop you will receive a certificate of attendance including a receipt for any potential fees.
Please be invited to contact us at decision-workshop (at) gmx.de . We are looking forward to hearing from you, and to seeing you all in July!
